Acton Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Acton Removals in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains. Acton Removals operates in the removals and relocation sector and recognises its responsibility to uphold the highest ethical standards in all operations.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Acton Removals has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, servitude, and child labour. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We expect the same high standards from all our employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers, and we will not knowingly work with any organisation that does not share this commitment.
Our zero-tolerance stance is embedded in our internal policies, supplier requirements, and management practices. Where we identify non-compliance or credible concerns, we will take immediate and proportionate action, which may include suspending or terminating relationships and reporting concerns to relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Acton Removals provides domestic and commercial removals and related services. Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, fuel, storage facilities, packing materials, equipment, labour agencies, and other professional and support services. We recognise that certain parts of the supply chain, particularly those involving manual labour and outsourced services, may carry a higher risk of modern slavery and therefore warrant enhanced scrutiny.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and partners who uphold robust labour and human rights standards. All new suppliers are assessed against our ethical and compliance expectations, including modern slavery requirements. We communicate our policies and make clear that compliance is a condition of doing business with Acton Removals.
We conduct risk-based supplier audits to verify that our standards are being met. These audits may include review of employment records, verification of working conditions, checks on right-to-work documentation, and discussions with workers where appropriate. When areas for improvement are identified, we expect suppliers to implement corrective action plans within agreed timeframes. Continued non-compliance may result in the termination of the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
We provide appropriate training to managers, supervisors, and relevant staff to help them recognise signs of modern slavery and understand our reporting procedures. Awareness of modern slavery risks is incorporated into staff induction for new employees whose roles may interact with higher-risk activities or suppliers.
We encourage a culture where ethical concerns can be raised openly without fear of retaliation and where everyone understands their role in preventing exploitation.
Reporting Channels and Escalation
Acton Removals encourages all employees, agency workers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking connected with our business or supply chain. Concerns can be raised internally through line managers or senior management. Individuals may also report concerns anonymously through internal reporting mechanisms where available.
All reports will be treated seriously and investigated promptly and fairly. We will protect those who raise concerns in good faith and will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation. Where appropriate, and subject to applicable laws, we will escalate matters to relevant external authorities and cooperate fully with any investigations.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. Acton Removals is committed to continually improving our policies, risk assessments, due diligence, and monitoring activities. We review our approach regularly to ensure it remains effective and proportionate to the risks in our operations and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed and approved at least annually by the leadership of Acton Removals. As part of this review, we consider any incidents reported, audit findings, changes in our business or supply chains, and evolving best practice. Updated statements are communicated internally and made available externally to provide transparency on the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery.
